Types Of Fire Extinguishers
Each company needs to take care of its worker’s safety. One of the ways to do it is to have fire extinguishers throughout your company and teach your employees how to use them correctly. This time we are going to talk about what types there are.
When it comes to types of fire extinguisher, first we have to know something basic about the fire itself. Class A are the fires that burn freely and the materials in question are wood and paper. Class B are flammable liquids or gas and class C is an electrical fire. For these types of fire, powder extinguishers are the best solution since this powder can effectively put the fire out. Class D fire is basically a metallic fire where titanium, magnesium, sodium, or zirconium are burning.
And we have class K, which are cooking fires and for this purpose, you can use a wet chemical fire extinguisher or water mist fire extinguisher. There are also foam fire extinguishers, which can be used for class A fires and flammable liquids of class B. For fires that are caused by the burning of gas, you will have to use a clean agent extinguisher. Each employer has to go through training to be able to use different types of fire extinguisher and keep the workplace a safe environment.
Although fires are pretty scary, you have to remain calm as much as you can, and the only way to do this is to know your way around fire extinguishers and other equipment. This is just some basic knowledge to get you started, although a more detailed training can provide more information.
