Witte Raaf is type ALC 40, a late arrival built in 1990 by Le Comte in Vianen to a 1970's design. People often regard their own things as superior, but our Miep is in fact very very special. For the glassfiber construction of the hull, an extremely advanced vacuum injection construction method was used. The deck already existed and stood somewhere outside against a wall. Due to a small puddle of rain water on deck, osmosis was diagnosed even before the boat ever sailed!  But it was a small spot and only on deck. As a result from the construction method, the hull will never be affected by osmosis! A comforting thought.

The construction and finishing took 10 years.
Le Comte built the hull, placed the bulkheads, laminated the deck to the hull and placed the lead in the keel. All remaining jobs where ours. But as of 1992 we only worked during the winters, and during the summers we sailed.
